Maynardville
On the 1st of February, 60 of our Grade 12
learners visited the open air theatre,
Maynardville, to enjoy the hilarious Shakespeare
play, The Comedy of Errors. What made this such
an enjoyable outing was not only the excellent
performance of the actors at the foot of the
glorious Table Mountain, but also the glorious
picnic that preceded the show!
Holocaust Museum
Our German and History learners went on an
outing to the Cape Town Holocaust Centre. The
Holocaust was orchestrated by Hitler and his
Nazi Party to get rid of all the people who they
believed are not good for their country
(Germany). They put these people (Jews,
Jehovah's witnesses, criminals, etc.) in
concentration camps and forced them to work
very hard without being paid or they simply
killed them. At the Holocaust Centre the grade
elevens learned why the Nazis acted so cruelly
and what exactly they did, by looking at
artefacts, photos, posters and real propaganda
videos made by the Nazi Party.
Cape Town Symphony Orchestra
On Thursday morning, 9 February, our HS
violinists had the privilege of attending the final
rehearsal of the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra.
The soloist was the young Russian German
violinist Mirijam Contzen and the conductor Mr
Shinozaki from Japan. Our violinists also had the
privilege of talking (and asking MANY questions)
to the well-known organist Barry Smith. With the
orchestra seated a stone's throw from the girls
and with a young German percussionist
entertaining the girls, this was truly a
"memorable moment".
VIVA LA MUSICA!!
